The City and County have both expressed formal support for the continued development of the Billings Bypass. The Billings North Bypass Feasibility Study, completed in 2001, concluded that a bypass was feasible from an economic and engineering standpoint and should be advanced for environmental assessment and refinement. City and County collaboration on planning efforts for the bypass will play a key role in this project.


THE CONSULTANT TEAM

DEA of Denver has been selected by the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) has selected as the lead consultant on this project. DEA will prepare the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) with assistance from the team of consultants assembled for the project. DEA will also be preparing the natural resource studies, visual assessment, and leading the public involvement effort.

HKM Engineering, as a subconsultant to DEA, will develop the preliminary design of the roadway improvements and perform the geotechnical analysis, hazardous materials analysis, and hydraulics and hydrology analysis.

Sammons Dutton, as a subconsultant to DEA, will conduct the land use, socio-economic, and benefit/cost analyses.


Marvin and Associates
Marvin and Associates, as a subconsultant to DEA, will conduct the traffic analysis.
